Beaumaris Castle, Wales
The Beaumaris Castle is a medieval castle located in Beaumaris, Anglesey, Wales. The construction of the castle began in 1295 on orders of King Edward, while the design was made by the King's architect James of St. George. Despite of enormous amount of money and labour force the Beaumaris Castle was after 35 years left unfinished. The Beaumaris Castle changed very little since the small-scale works carried out in the early 14th century and did not suffer damage during the English Civil War (from 1642 to 1651). For that reason is the castle very well preserved and very much resembles its original structure from the late 13th and early 14th century.
In 1986 was the Beaumaris Castle also inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage sites as part of Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd.
