The Castle of Diósgyor is a medieval castle located in the third largest city in Hungary, Miscolc in the north-east of the country and east of Bükk mountains. The first castle was probably built in the 12th century and was destroyed during the Mongol invasion of 1241-1242. In 1271 was the Castle of Diósgyor for the first time mentioned as a castle outpost but the present four-tower castle with a square ground-plan was built on orders of King Louis I the Great who ruled from 1342 to 1382.
