Muncaster Castle, England
The Muncaster Castle is a privately owned medieval castle located above the Esk river east of Ravenglass in Cumbria, England. The Castle was built in 1208 by Alan de Penitone on the old Roman foundations. Since its construction was the Muncaster Castle in the next centuries extended and altered for many times but is since 1208 when the land was granted to Alan de Penitone owned by the Pennington family.

The Muncaster Castle became famous also for reports of being haunted and is said to be one of Britains most haunted. The most famous of all ghosts haunting in the Muncaster Castle is a head carrying ghost Tom Fool who died around 1600 and decapitated a local carpenter on orders of Sir Ferdinand Pennington as a punishment for falling in love with his daughter. The Muncaster Castle is today still in private possession of the Pennington family but its open to the visitors already for three generations of the Pennington's.
