Egeskov Castle, Denmark
The Egeskov Castle is an outstanding 16th century castle located in the south of the island of Funen, Denmark. The castle was built in 1554 by Frands Brockenhuus although its history dates back to the 14th century.
During the next centuries the Egeskov Castle changed numerous owners but in 1784 it was bought by Henrik Bille whose descendants still own the castle. Although is the Egeskov Castle in private possession it is mostly open to the public with exception of of the areas used by Count Michael and Countess Margrethe Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille.
